Self-publishing is so much more than making a great book. It’s also promoting, marketing, retailing and distributing that book in physical and online environments.
Over two days, we’ll get to grips with all of this, and you’ll leave with a detailed plan for how to self-publish your book successfully.
You’ll be serious about self-publishing but you might not have a finished manuscript yet. This retreat is open to authors at any stage of the writing process.
The Self-Publishing Plan is individual – it’s about your book – and it’s comprehensive.
First of all, we clarify what your book is about and talk through your objectives in self-publishing.
From there, we get into the nitty gritty of defining your book’s specifications and formats (print, print-on-demand or digital), the approach to production (that’s editorial, design and file preparation), a retail and distribution strategy, a marketing plan (digital and traditional), and publicity plan.
In each of these areas, we’ll get into detail and you can expect to leave with tasks completed – your target audience nailed, your elevator pitch or press release written, for instance. You will also leave with a full costing created for your book that takes into account all the detail we’ve worked through in the plan.
You’ll be ready to self-publish successfully. That’s the plan.
