Roz has worked in traditional publishing for twenty years, starting her career in London, before moving to the USA and finally ending up in Australia some 14 years ago. She established Captain Honey with her partner Natalie in 2013. Roz has a unique global perspective and understands all the core markets very well.

During her 7-year stint as Trade Publisher at Lonely Planet, Roz made her mark launching a series of very successful titles, including the award-winning million-copy bestseller, The Travel Book. With a love and instinct for illustrated books, she went on to commission this type of non-fiction for HarperCollins, working with authors such as Donna Hay and Bill Granger. There she acquired The Lost Diggers which was awarded illustrated book of the year by the Australian Publisher’s Association.

Roz is also a published author and full member of The Australian Society of Authors and SCWIBI.

Roz is passionate about finding ways to make books happen and helping authors to understand and minimize risk, through a combination of planning and innovation. She has run a successful crowdfunding campaign for one of Captain Honey’s titles, assists authors planning their campaigns and is an ambassador for the crowdfunding platform, Pozible.

Roz is a regular presenter on ‘DIY Publishing’ for the NSW Writer’s Centre and the Byron Bay Writer’s Festival. She also runs workshops in the northern rivers area.
